Y11 cohort are often in need of prompt specialist support with their post 16 choices, frequently because they are under increased pressure to apply for 6th form or further education quite early in the new year. We work closely with Virtual Schools to provide intensive 1:1 follow up work with young people prior to or following their spring term PEP Review, producing a Post 16 Transition Pathway Plan. This support intervention can continue until the end of year 11 to ensure that every YP has a planned destination.
Some of the career information, advice, and guidance that we can provide includes:
- Organising an introductory face to face home visit or TEAMS meeting
- Pathway planning that includes course searches, application support and interview practice
- Attending open days for or with the YP
- Supporting with travel planning
- CV writing
- Apprenticeship advice and applications
- Staying happy and safe at college discussions
- Learning and behaviour expectations, insights for post 16 study and managing their own wellbeing
