The Accompanied Work Placement (AWP) provides students with the opportunity to complete a tailored programme of study relevant to a vocational area, and the workplace.
Students will be supported to explore their strengths, motivations and aspirations in line with the Careers Information and Guidance agenda. They will have access to one of the careers self-assessment tools ‘Start Profile’, during their Induction Week, to identify personal strengths and potential key career pathways relevant to their interests and or aspirations.
They will study ASDAN Work Related Vocational Taster Short Courses incorporated into their Personal Learning Plan, (PLP), as well as the ASDAN Careers & Experiencing Work short course.
The student will know that, when they successfully complete the programme and show readiness to engage with employment, they will be able to start with a potential employer as part of their work experience.
Where required, identify a suitable workplace with the student, liaise with the employer, check health and safety, insurance etc. and complete a risk assessment.
In the case of your young person, we can plan for part time work during the summer or prepare for the transition into an Apprenticeship, Traineeship or College.
The student will work towards and complete Functional Skills English, mathematics and or ICT qualifications, through the Awarding Organisation NCFE.
The student will have a Work Place Mentor throughout the programme, who will support them to develop employability skills, build confidence and resilience, and manage workplace social interactions.
The Mentor will also help the employer understand any relevant background of the student so that they can appreciate the benefits they bring and some of the challenges the student may face.
Each AWP can range from a 6-week programme to 12-week programme, with a minimum of 3 hours per week. Times and days are completely flexible and tailored to the individual needs and requirements of each student.
Daily, weekly and half-termly reports and evaluations are completed to monitor and evaluate progress and achievements towards SMART targets set within their Personal Learning Plan.
For all engagement, education and AWP programmes, our Clients have access to live data for attendance, punctuality, levels of engagement and progress via our secure MIS, The Client Portal.
