It’s always difficult for parents when their child is struggling with their education and this may be due to a variety of reasons. Sometimes this leads to them refusing to go to school or saying they are, but hanging around in the town with their friends instead.
Fresh Start In Education was set up to help children who struggle with education and for whatever reason have been, or are about to be, excluded from regular education.
We are an independent company who work with children all over the country. We are paid by the local authority or sometimes the school, and we also undertake private work paid for directly by parents.
We assign one or more of our Education Specialists to work with your child. They are teachers or mentors who are particularly skilled in working with students who have problems with their education. Normally we will initially come to your home to meet you and your child and talk through what might work best.
When we have decided what will engage the interest and abilities of your child, we put together a tailor made an engagement and education plan specifically for them. Then, in agreement with the school or local authority, we work through this plan using resource centres local to you. We aren’t like anything you will have experienced before.
Working with your child in a way that they will enjoy is really important to us, as we’re sure it is to you. The reason we are commissioned by local authorities and schools is to help get your child into a place where they feel confident to learn so that they can do well and reach their full potential in life.
We do understand that they have had a difficult time in school and with learning generally and we are NOT going to just provide more of the same! We are sure that with your support, together, we can help them do well.
The following points should help your child in their initial sessions with Fresh Start:
Working with Fresh Start in Education will be the start of a new chapter in your child’s life, but we will need both their and your commitment to make this happen. We will be doing everything we can to help them in their learning. We will always try to answer your questions if you have any, and if not, we will be able to refer you to someone in your local authority or school who can help you.
